President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sanctioned a significant subsidy to alleviate the financial burden of kidney dialysis for Nigerians.
In a statement, Sunday Dare, a presidential aide, announced that this measure has lowered the cost of each dialysis session from N50,000 to only N12,000, providing relief to thousands of individuals suffering from kidney-related conditions.
Dare noted that this subsidy is currently in effect at major federal hospitals across the six geopolitical zones, including:
- Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ebute-Metta, Lagos
- Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, Abuja
- University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan
- Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri
- University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), Maiduguri
- Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta
- Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Lagos
- Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare
- University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Benin
- University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Calabar
He added that additional federal medical centres and teaching hospitals will be included before the year ends to expand access across the country.
Dare also highlighted that last year, President Tinubu approved free cesarean sections (C-sections) for pregnant women in federal hospitals to enhance maternal healthcare and reduce preventable maternal de@ths.
A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
