Former Man United Star ‘Convicted Of Fraud In Manchester’

Ravel Morrison, a former star of the Manchester United academy, was found guilty of fraud and fined £1000 after he was seen parking his car using someone else’s blue badge.

On Thursday, December 1, Morrison appeared in a city magistrates court and admitted guilt to one count of fraud.

He received a penalty ticket for parking his Audi A3 on Bridgewater Street in Deansgate, and later that year, the car was seized.

Parking wardens found that Morrison had used a blue parking badge that belonged to someone who had passed away in February 2022, therefore it was no longer valid.

The former United player picked up his Audi later that day after it had been ticketed and transported to a parking impound.

According to Manchester City Council, the 30-year-old admitted in a cautionary interview that he paid £50 to “someone in Old Trafford” for the blue badge.

People with impairments or medical issues are issued blue badge cards, which allow them to park in parking lots closer to their destination.

Morrison was ordered to pay £508 in costs and a £400 victim surcharge in addition to his fine.

Speaking after the ruling, a Manchester City Council spokesman said: “This ruling shows that the law is applicable to everyone, with no exceptions.

“I am grateful for the diligent work of our investigating officers as well as legal counsel who were able to successfully prosecute this case.

“Our officers patrol the streets daily to ensure that blue badges are used legitimately and we will not hesitate to take action if we discover people trying to circumvent the law.”
