Here Is Why You Should Never Drink Alcohol On An Empty Stomach

There is no safe level of alcohol consumption for human health and if you have to drink, “never consume alcohol on an empty stomach.” This drinking rule has been around forever, and everyone is aware of it yet most people have disobeyed it.

Health experts frequently advise people to load up on food before filling up on alcohol. This is what happens if you have no food in your stomach.

The first thing to know is that the body absorbs alcohol from alcoholic beverages in three separate locations.

A little portion will be absorbed through the mouth’s and tongue’s tiny blood capillaries, followed by 20% through the stomach and the remainder 75-80% through the small intestine, according to “Healthline.”

Everyone absorbs alcohol at a different rate depending on their body weight, age, and even gender. However, how much food a person eats while drinking also affects how quickly they absorb alcohol.

Faster drunkenness may result from binge drinking when little to no food has been consumed. Additionally, it might result in alcohol poisoning, worse hangovers, and headaches.

According to experts, you are more likely to experience the classic symptoms of intoxication—dizziness, nausea, vomiting, lack of inhibition, loss of motor skills, and mood swings—when there is no food in your system.

A blood alcohol level of 0.08 or above is considered legal intoxication, and you will get there faster if you haven’t eaten, according to these studies, which also show that a rapid rise in blood alcohol level might cause severe negative effects.

Even though there hasn’t been much research on the effects of drinking alcohol on an empty stomach, the majority of medical specialists agree that you should avoid it.

If you do drink and wind up forgetting to eat, it’s best to keep the alcohol content of your drink low and consume it slowly or with a still, non-alcoholic mixer.

Additionally, if possible, bring some refreshments OR better still stay away from alcohol it does more harm than good.
