The Kano State Hisbah Board has taken into custody 25 individuals accused of arranging a same-sex marriage in the Hotoro neighbourhood within Kano city.
The Deputy Commander of the board, Mujahedeen Aminudeen, verified the detention of the individuals through a statement released on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
As per Aminudeen, the group of suspects, consisting of 18 men and seven women, were captured at the Fatima Event Centre situated along the Hotoro bypass in Kano city on Saturday.
“Today, Saturday, 25th October 2025, we got a report that some people are allegedly organising same s3x marriage,” he said.
“Our personnel stormed the Fatima Event Centre, the venue of the illegal event, and we successfully arrested 25 persons, 18 males and seven females.”
He elaborated that the suspects, among them the groom originating from Sheka, Yar Gaya, Kofar Nasarawa, and various other locations, were seized at the event centre.
The Deputy Commander cautioned that the board would not remain passive and permit undesirable individuals to damage the positive standing and prestige of Kano state.
