I Have Not Collected A Single Loan In Two Years — Kaduna Governor

Published on

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has disclosed that he has not secured any loans from domestic or international financial institutions since taking office two years ago.

During a Hausa-language interview with various radio stations in Kaduna, conducted as part of events commemorating his administration’s second anniversary, the governor clarified that his decision was intended to prevent further debt buildup for the state.

Sani revealed that despite numerous banks presenting him with various loan proposals, he rejected them all. Instead, he opted to adopt cost-cutting strategies to promote a more efficient administration.

He further revealed that he reduced allowances and curtailed some benefits for senior government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government and commissioners.

“The Secretary to the State Government is a retired federal permanent secretary and a former consultant with the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). Some of my commissioners were earning significantly higher salaries in their previous positions,” Sani said.

“I persuaded them to forfeit their performance bonuses and to continue using the official vehicles from the previous administration. This is how we have managed to run the government without taking a single loan.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
