IKWUANO ELITES FORUM TO HOST 2ND EDITION OF INTER-SECONDARY SCHOOLS QUIZ COMPETITION

In many communities across Nigeria today, conversations about youth development often revolve around infrastructure, employment, and technology. While these are important, the foundation of any sustainable development remains education.

It is against this backdrop that the Ikwuano Elites Forum (IEF) deserves commendation for initiating the Ikwuano Inter-Secondary Schools Quiz Competition, scheduled to hold on May 29, 2026, at Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.

Academic competitions such as this may appear modest on the surface, but their long-term impact on young minds can be profound. They encourage students to read widely, sharpen their reasoning abilities, and develop confidence in their intellectual capacity.

By covering subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, Current Affairs, Science, and Arts, the competition aims to expose students to a broad spectrum of knowledge while stimulating healthy academic rivalry among participating schools.

More importantly, initiatives like this help restore the culture of scholarship and intellectual pride that once defined many Nigerian schools.

The involvement of community-based organisations such as the Ikwuano Elites Forum also demonstrates a growing recognition that education cannot be left to government alone. Communities must actively participate in shaping the academic future of their young people.

Beyond the prizes and recognition that will accompany the competition, the real victory will be seen in the enthusiasm it generates among students and the renewed attention it draws to learning.

If properly supported by individuals, corporate bodies, and community leaders, the quiz competition could become a flagship annual event that places Ikwuano firmly on the map of academic excellence in Abia State.

Indeed, the theme behind the initiative “Bringing out the best in our students” — is not merely a slogan. It is a call to action for everyone who believes that the future of the community lies in the minds we nurture today. “This competition is part of our broader effort to bring out the best in our students and to promote academic excellence within Ikwuano,” the forum stated.

Stakeholders, educationists, community leaders, and members of the public have been encouraged to support the initiative through sponsorship and participation.

Interested sponsors and partners can contact the organisers via 0803 746 9377, 0706 604 4967, 0816 269 0863, or 0803 821 3273 for further information.
