I’m Not Returning To Aso Rock Villa. I’ll Campaign For Remi Tinubu – Patience Jonathan

Amid widespread rumors that former President Goodluck Jonathan is being wooed by influential politicians for a potential return to Aso Rock in 2027, his wife and former First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, has categorically dismissed any aspirations for a comeback, either for herself or, by clear implication, her husband.

Speaking at an awards ceremony in Abuja on Saturday night, May 9, Mrs. Jonathan expressed her unwavering support for First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and committed to campaigning alongside her ahead of the 2027 elections.

“I’m not running. I’m not going back to the Villa. If you call me, I will not go. Let my friend be there. Let me also ‘wahala’ her the way she used to ‘wahala’ me when I was there!” she said.

The former First Lady’s comments come at a time when speculation is rampant that certain political figures, particularly in the North, are considering a possible alliance with Jonathan for the 2027 elections.

Reaffirming her commitment to rotational leadership, Patience Jonathan stressed that the “turn-by-turn” principle is vital for fostering national unity, a stance that seems to bolster her endorsement of the Tinubu administration’s ongoing leadership.

“I believe in one president. I believe in turn-by-turn. When it’s your turn, I will support you. When it’s not your turn, step back – so that the country can move forward,” she said.

She reminisced about her longstanding friendship with Remi Tinubu, which began when they were both wives of deputy governors and governors, noting that the Tinubus supported her family during the 2011 presidential campaign.

“I cannot abandon my friend, whether you like it or not,” she said.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
