Immigration Boss Declares State Of Emergency Over Passport

The Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS); Ms. Caroline Adepoju, on Friday declared a state of emergency in the country about passport concerns.

This is contained in a statement issued by Mr. Tony Akuneme, the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), of the service.

The CG was in Lagos for the opening ceremony of the Visa on Arrival Lounge at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, according to Akuneme.

Adepoju made a statement about the urgent need to address the challenges Nigerians face in obtaining international passports during the visit.

The NIS director took advantage of the opportunity to make an extensive plan of action to effectively address the issues public.

According to her, the facility showed the NIS’s dedication to enhancing the general travel experience for visitors entering Nigeria.

She claims that the proclamation of a state of emergency on passport issues demonstrates NIS’s renewed commitment to finding solutions to the problems faced by Nigerians applying for passports.

“It represents a call to action for all stakeholders to prioritize efficiency, transparency, and excellence in service delivery, “she said.

Adepoju directed all Passport Control Officers, relevant units, and personnel, including Missions abroad, to eliminate all hindrances preventing Nigerians from accessing Passports promptly.

“NIS is leveraging technology and instituting robust administrative measures to enhance the Passport application and issuance process.

“We urge all Nigerians to remain patient and cooperate with the service as it takes decisive steps to address the Passport crisis,” she said.

Adepoju reassured the populace that steps were being made to guarantee that every qualified Nigerian who needed a passport could get one quickly.
