Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, is speaking with members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, in Abuja right now.
The meeting was said to have begun around 5 p.m. on Monday, which has boosted university students’ hopes of returning to class as the federal government attempts to halt the ASUU’s periodic strike.
The current strike started on February 14 and was extended for an additional two months due to unsatisfied responses from the Federal Government.
Regardless of complaints, ASUU has vowed to keep the strike going until the government agrees to requests for revitalization money and inconsistencies with the Integrated Personnel Payment and Payroll System IPPIS.
