Kanye West Gives Reasons He’s Not Allowed To Perform At Super Bowl

Published on

Kanye West has ignited a new wave of controversy by reviving his longstanding dispute with Taylor Swift, implying that she contributed to his exclusion from ever taking the stage at the Super Bowl halftime show.

In a post on X (previously known as Twitter) that he later removed, the rapper stated, “I never was allowed to do the Super Bowl because of three moments. George Bush don’t care about Black people. The Taylor Swift movement moment. Wearing a MAGA hat.”

The public tension between West and Swift traces back to the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, where he notoriously disrupted her acceptance speech to assert that Beyoncé should have won the award instead. The divide grew wider in 2016 when Kanye mentioned Swift in his track “Famous,” a song she later claimed was released without her approval.

The rapper’s reference to his 2005 critique of then-President George W. Bush — delivered during a live telethon for Hurricane Katrina — and his adoption of Donald Trump’s political stance with the red MAGA hat further highlighted what he perceives as the primary reasons for his apparent ban from the NFL’s premier musical spectacle.

In that same post, West tried to cast his exclusion as a consequence of being “ahead of my time.” He also alluded to his broadly criticized antisemitic statements, suggesting that his behavior before those remarks — including his political leanings — was sufficient to bar him from the Super Bowl platform.

West’s choice to drag Taylor Swift into the storyline has sparked backlash, with many noting that he seemed to deflect responsibility from his own decisions and controversies. Although Swift has not openly addressed the latest jab, the singer is well recognized for avoiding public disputes — and her supporters anticipate she’ll maintain that approach.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
