Kiekie Reveals How She Stumbled Into Skit-making

Nigerian content creator Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, popularly known as Kiekie, reflected on how she started sketching as a fashion critic.

The skit maker said her criticism of fashion mixed with humor caught the attention of people in her industry, who invited her to start producing skits.

Speaking as a panellist during one of the sessions of the Entertainment Week Lagos Kiekie said she despite starting small, she now owns a YouTube channel and produces her own content.

In her words; “I infused the comic side into my content, and that was what gave birth to my fashion shock show. It was a bit of critiquing fashion, but infusing comedy into it. That was one of the things that made the show grow at the time.

“It was a case of wanting to show more and having the right people around me to encourage me to do that. That is why I always tell people that it is very important to surround oneself with the right set of people that will push the right elements out of one; and not with the most irrelevant things.

“People started seeing the comic side in my fashion content, and they began pulling me into skits, saying, ‘This girl is hilarious; come and feature in skits’. One skit turned into five, then 10, till we got to this point. Before I knew what was happening, I had started producing my own content, and opened a YouTube channel.”
