The Nigerian Correctional Service has issued a warrant for the arrest of 64 high-profile escapees from the recent raid on the Kuje Medical Security Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.
According to Abubakar Umar, the Service Public Relations Officer, the escapees are members of the Boko Haram terrorist organisation.
Gunmen suspected of being Boko Haram terrorists invaded the Kuje Custodial Centre on Tuesday night with high explosives and firearms, allowing 879 of the 994 inmates in prison to escape. According to authorities, 64 of the runaway prisoners are members of Boko Haram.
Meanwhile, the Service reports that 443 detainees have been recaptured.
