Laura Ikeji Sparks Discussion by Claiming Women’s Beauty Now Outweighs Hard Work

Laura Ikeji-Kanu, a well-known influencer and fashion entrepreneur, has sparked intense online comments after complaining that many Nigerian ladies who don’t work today have better lives and make more money than diligent women.

Laura voiced her displeasure with society’s apparent preference for appearance above true effort in a video posted on her Instagram page.

She pointed out that in the current economy, girls who choose not to work frequently receive greater financial benefits and attention than those who work hard to establish a business or job.

According to her;

“We are in a country where girls who do not work earn more than girls who work hard, all because they are beautiful. Girls who are fine make so much money. Please, if you see any hardworking girls, always try to support them, no matter what.”

Fans and social media users had differing opinions on her comments when it swiftly went viral.

Others contended that influence and beauty have only evolved into new types of labor in the digital era, despite the fact that many commended Laura for “speaking the truth.”

The idea that women’s beauty now holds more value than hard work is a controversial and subjective topic. While societal perceptions and media influence may emphasize appearance, true success often still relies on dedication, skills, and perseverance. Ultimately, a balanced perspective recognizing both inner qualities and outer appearance is essential for a fair and respectful understanding of worth.
