Some of Manchester United players are said to be questioning captain Harry Maguire’s position in the team.
Maguire has had a rough season at Old Trafford, with his form being questioned after a series of high-profile errors in recent matches against Burnley and Southampton.
However, the 28-year-old England international has unquestionably maintained his position in the team, a fact that some of his teammates have quietly challenged behind the scenes, according to the Times.
Maguire’s poor performance is said to have irritated several of his teammates, who have vented their frustrations at the club’s Carrington training base. They believe his performances have fallen short of the club’s expectations this season.
It’s not the first time this season that Maguire’s place in the team has been questioned.
After the team suffered a 4-2 defeat against Leicester in October, it was alleged that some players ripped into one another in the team, with one challenging Maguire’s captaincy.
The defender has spent much of his career at Old Trafford as captain, having been given the armband just six months after coming from Leicester.
