Manchester United are said to be gearing up for a massive squad overhaul this summer, with a minimum of 10 players expected to depart.
The club’s new ownership, along with manager Ruben Amorim, are aiming to revamp the team following yet another underwhelming season.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United are planning to offload Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho on permanent transfers.
All three individuals are presently on loan at different teams, having lost their places in the lineup at Old Trafford.
The funds generated from these departures will be allocated toward acquiring a new, established striker.
Chelsea are contractually bound to purchase Sancho for £20-25m, though it has emerged they might opt to pay United £5million in compensation to sidestep that obligation.
Seasoned midfielder Casemiro will also be made available for transfer as United seek to generate money for fresh acquisitions.
Other veteran players, Jonny Evans and Tom Heaton, are anticipated to declare their retirements when the season concludes, while Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof are slated for release.
The Red Devils are also thought to be on the hunt for a new winger, with several attacking stars poised to leave.
Earlier this month, Amorim acknowledged that some United players are already conscious that their tenure with the club is nearing its conclusion.
He stated: “Everybody understands that in football sometimes you stay, sometimes you have to move on. If I know how to explain it, I will do so because I like to be clear.
“I was a player and like to use that experience — when you are honest with someone, they can take it. In the beginning maybe it is hard but they will understand.
“I’m quite honest with my players and sometimes they know they have to move on at the end of the season.
“We can talk about that in the end — now there are still a lot of games to play. But that is clear and not a difficult situation.”
In a recent interview with Gary Neville, Sir Jim Ratcliffe highlighted six high-cost Manchester United signings who are either ‘not good enough or overpaid.’
Jadon Sancho, Casemiro, Antony, Rasmus Hojlund, Lisandro Martinez, and Andre Onana were all called out by the Ineos owner as he exposed the club’s excessive spending on players in recent times.
Ratcliffe remarked: “This summer, we will ‘buy’ Antony, we’ll ‘buy’ Sancho, we’ll ‘buy’ Casemiro, we’ll ‘buy’ Martínez, we’ll ‘buy’ Hojlund, we’ll ‘buy’ Onana, and they’re all about £17m each. If we buy nobody we’re buying those players. It’s not a light switch (that can be turned off).
“These are all things from the past, whether we like it or not, we’ve inherited those things and have to sort that out.
“For Sancho, who now plays for Chelsea and we pay half his wages, we’re paying £17m to buy him in the summer.
“Some are not good enough and some probably are overpaid, but for us to mould the squad that we are fully responsible for, and accountable for, will take time.
“It takes time for us to move away from the past into a new place in the future. We’ve got this period of transformation where we move from the past to the future.
“There are some great players in the squad as we know, the captain is a fabulous footballer. We definitely need Bruno (Fernandes), he’s a fantastic footballer.”
