Maurizio Sarri, the former coach of Chelsea, is said to have quit from his position at Lazio following his team’s fourth consecutive loss across all competitions.
Lazio’s 2-1 loss in their Serie A match on Monday was their 12th in 28 games, as the team dropped to ninth in the standings.
SportMediaSet, citing the Sun, has revealed that Sarri resigned from his position following their most recent campaign failure.
According to the article, the club accepted his resignation because of his “complicated” relationship with president Claudio Lotito, and if things hadn’t improved subsequently, they “would have sacked him.”
According to the article, the club’s youth squad manager, Igli Tare, and legendary former player Tommaso Rocchi are the front-runners to succeed Sarri.
After taking charge of 137 games, Sarri joined Lazio in 2021 and finished with a 47.45% win percentage after winning 65, drawing 30, and losing 42.
In addition, the former Napoli coach managed Chelsea, taking the team to the Carabao Cup final in 2018–19 before capping his career with a Europa League victory. Nevertheless, the team chose to fire him that summer and bring in Frank Lampard in his stead.
