Motherhood: Raising A Godly Child In An Ungodly World 8

Hello, Great Mothers!

We have had lots of discussions on this important topic. In the previous article, we began the discussion on the process of nurturing God’s image/nature in our children.

The first is training a child, which entails training a child in
i) character and
ii) the things of God.

We have discussed how to train a child in character in my previous article. We shall discuss how to train a child in the things of God.

ii) Train your child in the things of God:
Deut 6:6-7; And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. kYou shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house when you walk by the way when you lie down, and when you rise up.

We are expected to;
a) teach them how to pray and pray with them. Teach them to pray at all times.
b) teach them to love being church, take them to church, and tell them why.
c) spend devotional time with them; pray and study the bible together. Don’t be too busy to create time to fellowship together.
d) learn to sing and play Christian music home in the home.

The second way we nurture the image of God in our children is by loving them.
a)Tell your children you love them, and show them you do.
b) Create time to chat and play with your kids
c) Be involved in their lives and interests.
d)Show them physical affection: hug them and tell them you love them.
e) Appreciate them, tell them how lovely, and beautiful they are.
f)Don’t just condemn them when they are wrong. Also, learn to praise them, and buy gifts for them occasionally. But do not spoil them by allowing them always to have their way because you love them and don’t want them to be angry or cry.”

Training up a Godly child is not automatic, it takes lots of effort, and repetitions. May the good God help us. Amen.
