God desires a good relationship with us. God wants to have relationships with each of us, and communication is crucial to any relationship. God established prayer as a channel through wish, we can communicate with Him. Through prayers, we can thank God for everything he has done, seek his forgiveness, and express our requests to him through prayer. Through prayers, we can express to God our deepest desires and thoughts. God also wants us to teach our children the importance of praying and studying the Bible to communicate with Him.
Children are eager to talk to anyone who will listen to them. It is our duty as mothers to teach our kids that they can always talk to God in prayers the way they talk to their best friends and that he is always willing to listen and talk to them back. We must teach them that they can talk to God in any situation and can always ask Him for anything.
In the previous article, we discussed some of the steps we can adopt to teach our children how to pray. The following steps are also great, we can use them to teach our children how to pray.
1)Encourage your children to begin their prayers with a few words. It may be easier for them, especially toddlers and preschoolers. Ask them to consider two things: things they are grateful for, and the other for which they seek forgiveness. This is a beautiful and simple way to introduce children to prayer. It is also a great foundation for an effective prayer life for them.
2)To provide a good example, practice praying together. Try to incorporate prayer into your family’s routine and model it for your kids. Before encouraging them to do the same, say your prayer aloud. So that they can see your wonderful relationship with God, and emulate the same. keep your prayer simple, and sincere but lively.
As we teach our children how to pray, let us keep in mind that as our children grow, they will develop their way of relating with God, which may be different from our own. Hence, we need to note that when we teach them about prayers, we are teaching them and also laying the foundation of an effective prayer life for them.
