MOUAU Launches Business School, Unveils Vision for Excellence

Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), has launched its Business School, marking a significant milestone in its academic journey. The launch event also saw the inauguration of the Board of Directors and Management Team, with notable personalities including former Minister of State for Mines and Steel, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, and Abia State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Chimezie Ukaegbu, as board members.

Speaking at the event, MOUAU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Maduebibisi Iwe, disclosed that the Business School is envisioned as a hub for leadership development, executive education, entrepreneurship, and policy engagement. He emphasized that the school represents a deliberate shift towards interdisciplinary thinking and practical impact, anchored in the university’s core values of excellence, integrity, and service.

Prof. Iwe noted that the Business School is a symbol of continuity, bridging the past and the future, and appealed for support to transform it into a world-class institution. “To truly make the MOUAU Business School a world-class institution, we require partnerships, collaboration, and collective ownership,” he said.

Dr. Ukaegbu, a member of the Governing Board, pledged the commitment of the board to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance, supporting the management of the Business School, and fostering partnerships to enhance visibility, funding, and academic excellence. The management team is headed by Prof. Michael Ekwe as Director.

The launch of MOUAU Business School is expected to have a significant impact on the university’s academic programs and contribute to the development of entrepreneurship and leadership skills among students.
