A new pump price for petrol may be on the way, as the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has reached a deal with Dangote Refinery to lift goods directly.
PMAN National President Abubakar Garima made the announcement to journalists in Abuja on Monday, November 11, following a meeting of the Association’s National Working Committee.
He stated that the agreement will ensure a consistent and inexpensive supply of PMS products across the country.
“After meeting with Alh. Aliko Dangote and his management team in Lagos, we’re pleased to announce that Dangote Refinery has agreed to supply IPMAN with PMS, AGO, and DPK directly for distribution to our depots and retail outlets.”
Garima urged IPMAN members to support the Dangote Refinery, citing backward integration benefits and good effects on Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
“IPMAN members should rely on Dangote Refinery and Nigerian Refineries for white products, creating more job opportunities and supporting President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.”
Regarding pricing, Garima expressed confidence that negotiations with Dangote would result in lower charges.
Regarding Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), the IPMAN President stated that the Association is preparing for a smooth transition to CNG refill stations around the country.
“CNG has immense potential to boost Nigeria’s economy. IPMAN is committed to supporting this initiative and partnering with the Federal Government for its success.”
This collaboration is projected to improve the efficiency, affordability, and economic growth of Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
The Dangote Refinery has already started producing diesel and aviation fuel, with intentions to provide supplies to over 30,000 IPMAN members and 150,000 retail outlets nationally.
This initiative is designed to eliminate intermediaries, lower expenses, and ensure a consistent supply.
