North Korea Tells Japan Of Its Plans To Launch A Satellite

Japan has received a launch plan notification from North Korea. According to a representative of the Japanese coast guard, North Korea has informed Japan that it intends to launch a satellite between May 31 and June 11.

The military satellite, according to analysts, is a part of North Korea’s efforts to expand surveillance technologies, including drones, to increase its capacity to hit targets in the event of a confrontation. North Korea is armed with nuclear weapons.

Additionally, North Korea has tested several missiles and weaponry in recent months, including a brand-new ICBM with solid fuel.

According to a coast guard official speaking to Reuters, North Korea informed the Japanese coast guard of the intended launch. This confirms earlier reports by the public broadcaster NHK and other Japanese media.

The office of the Japanese prime minister requested that North Korea postpone the launch and promised to cooperate closely with friends.

The prime minister’s office posted on Twitter, “We strongly urge North Korea to refrain from launching,” adding that it will work “with relevant countries such as the US and South Korea.”

The Japanese government promised to do all in its power to gather and examine data from the launch.

North Korea claimed to have finished developing its first spy satellite. According to KCNA, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited a military satellite facility in May.

According to the KCNA article, Kim had given the non-permanent satellite launch preparatory committee his approval for the following actions.

A plan to share real-time information on Pyongyang’s missile launches with South Korea, the United States, and Japan has already come under fire from North Korean media, which said the three countries were debating “sinister measures” to enhance military cohesion.
