Senator Adams Oshiomole has urged the Senate to investigate the management of funds allocated to the Safe School Program, citing concerns that Nigeria’s security challenges are being exploited for personal gain. This call comes after the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State, highlighting the program’s failure to prevent such attacks.
Oshiomole emphasized that the country’s security situation demands urgent attention, and the Senate must ensure that funds meant for securing schools are not misused. He pointed to the recent abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, questioning why billions budgeted for the Safe School program haven’t prevented repeated attacks.
The Senate has ordered a full-scale investigation into the Safe School Fund, constituting an ad hoc committee to probe the implementation, funding, and expenditure patterns of the program.
