Pele’s Cancer Has Worsened, Doctors Reveal

According to the hospital treating the legendary Brazilian athlete, Pele’s cancer has advanced.

An update from medical staff read: “Admitted since November 29 for a reassessment of chemotherapy therapy for colon tumor and treatment of a respiratory infection, Edson Arantes do Nascimento presents a progression of the oncological disease and requires greater care related to renal and cardiac dysfunctions.

“The patient remains hospitalized in a common room, under the necessary care of the medical team.”

His daughter confirmed that the family will spend Christmas with the 82-year-old in the hospital.

Pele, who had a colon tumor removed in September 2021, was admitted on November 29 to the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in Sao Paulo.

His daughter Kely Nascimento wrote on Instagram: “Our Christmas at home has been suspended. We decided with the doctors that, for various reasons, it would be better for us to stay here with all the care that this new family at Einstein gives us!

“We are going to turn this room into a Sambodromo (just kidding), we will even make caipirinhas (not kidding!!).”

The family would provide an update on his condition the following week, she added.

Last week, medical personnel offered some hope to fans by saying that his condition had been getting better.

Their prior assertion was as follows: “Clinically, the patient is still getting better, especially about the respiratory illness. He continues to be in a typical room, is awake, and his vital signs are in good order.”

Initial worries were raised about the three-time World Cup champion’s health due to the numerous honors made to him during the last tournament in Qatar. His daughters instantly disputed the claims, claiming he was still a supporter of Brazil despite being “unwell.”

We wish the Legendary football Icon, a speedy recovery.
