The Niger State Police Command has successfully rescued a 2-year-old girl who had been stolen and subsequently sold to three separate buyers, among them a pastor in Abuja, for a combined total of N6.6 million.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, made this known in a statement issued on Thursday, November 27, 2025, revealing that the victim, identified as Rahamat Mohammed, was abducted from Sabon-Wuse in Tafa Local Government Area of the state by a suspected human trafficker named Victoria Ebunoha Chukwumezie.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Chukwumezie—who had previously been arrested while in possession of three stolen children—sold Rahamat to an individual named Rosemary in Nyanya, Abuja.
Rosemary, in turn, sold the child to one Pastor Vincent Emmanuel in Abuja for the sum of N2.8 million.
Pastor Emmanuel then sold the little girl to a woman based in London, Anthonia Nwabufor, for N3.8 million.
Wasiu further stated that ongoing investigation uncovered that Nwabufor had been making arrangements for the child to be transported to join her in London.
“In continuation of the Police investigation in respect of the case of child stealing, abduction and human trafficking involving Victoria Chukwumezie who was arrested at Diko Junction with three children on November 5, 2025 and based on further confessions of the suspect, police operatives attached to SCID Minna proceeded to Asaba, Delta State on November 24, 2025,” the statement read.
“On getting to Asaba, the Police team recovered one Rahamat Mohammed 2yrs of Sabon-Wuse, Tafa. Investigation revealed that Victoria had taken Rahamat from Sabon-Wuse on October 2nd, 2025 and sold her to one Rosemary of Nyanya, Abuja.
“Rosemary equally sold the girl to one Pastor Vincent Emmanuel of Asosi, Abuja at the rate of two million, eight hundred thousand naira, who in turn sold her to a lady Anthonia Nwabufor at a cost of three million, eight hundred thousand naira.
“Anthonia Nwabufor is based in London, but directed that the girl; Rahamat be delivered to her mother in Asaba, who will arrange the movement of the girl to join her in London.
“However, a total of six children have been recovered so far, and eight suspects arrested in connection with the crime. Further investigation in progress.”
