Police Says They Invaded Labour House After Denying It

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has given an explanation for their recent search operation at Labour House, the Nigeria Labour Congress’s (NLC) Abuja headquarters.

Police officers wearing black shirts and masks attacked the facility on Wednesday night, purportedly looking for sponsors of the #EndBadGovernance demonstration.

The NLC denounced the action and issued an ultimatum demanding the return of the goods that were reportedly taken during the operation by the cops, including books and other materials.

Force Spokesman Muyiwa Adejobi made it clear that the NLC was not the operation’s aim in a statement that was made public on Friday night. Rather, the target of the search was a person who possessed a store on the Labour House property and was reportedly engaged in illicit activities.

“Detectives, armed with the appropriate legal authority, conducted an operation at the location, which turned out to be the NLC building,” Adejobi stated. “This well-coordinated, lawful operation was solely aimed at apprehending the prime suspect—a foreign national implicated in numerous criminal activities across Nigeria and other African countries.”

Adejobi made it clear that the activity was unrelated to the NLC, its personnel, or its management. He clarified that the suspect constituted a serious security risk to Nigeria and other African countries since he had been utilising a rented store inside the Labour House as a front for his illegal activities.

“The Nigeria Police Force seeks the cooperation and support of the NLC leadership as we continue this investigation, which is vital to safeguarding our nation,” Adejobi added. “The high-profile nature of the suspect makes this investigation crucial for the safety of all involved, including the NLC.”

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
