Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid’s head coach, has chosen to quit the club at the end of the season, according to Spanish radio station Onda Cero, which quoted unidentified sources on Monday.
The Italian strategist expects that Real Madrid will accept his choice, as he believes his tenure at the club has come to an end after becoming the club’s most successful manager ever.
Ancelotti had already been connected with a transfer away from the Santiago Bernabeu last year, with speculations circulating that the Brazilian Football Federation was interested in making him Tite’s successor at the helm of the National Team.
According to Onda Cero, former Madrid player Xabi Alonso is “the favourite” for replacement.
The 2014 Champions League winner has demonstrated his coaching abilities at Bayer Leverkusen, having turned down a move to Liverpool last summer to remain in Germany.
Carlo Ancelotti, 66, returned to the La Liga giants in 2021 for a second spell, adding two more Champions League championships to the one he won at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2014, as well as two Spanish triumphs.
A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
