Renowned Evangelist Uma Ukpai Dies At 80

Esteemed Nigerian evangelist and spiritual head of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, has passed away.

His family confirmed this in a statement released on Monday, stating that he died on October 6, 2025, at the age of 80.

The family described his passing as a “glorious transition” from a life of committed service to eternal rest.

Ukpai, widely regarded as a spiritual giant and a pioneer of faith, devoted more than six decades to evangelism, impactful teaching of the Word, and powerful demonstrations of God’s power.

Through his ministry, he touched millions of lives in Nigeria and across the globe, shaping destinies and fostering spiritual growth across generations.

“He was a faithful soldier of the cross who devoted his life to spreading the gospel with passion and integrity.

“His teachings, prophetic insights, and mentorship have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire believers for years to come,” his family said.

Throughout his ministry, Ukpai gained recognition for his fervent evangelistic campaigns, transformative teachings, and dedication to empowering both clergy and lay leaders.

Beyond his spiritual contributions, he was also cherished as a loving husband, devoted father, and mentor to countless individuals who saw him as a beacon in faith and life.

The family expressed gratitude for Ukpai’s life and work, noting that while they grieve his physical absence, they rejoice that he has “finished his race and is now resting in eternal praise.”

They promised that details of his funeral arrangements would be communicated in due time.

Ukpai’s ministry, spanning over sixty years, leaves behind a profound spiritual and social legacy, with churches, educational initiatives, and humanitarian efforts that continue to impact communities worldwide.

His life, the family said, exemplified the biblical truth that “to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
