Colombian singer, Shakira has announced her split from Barcelona star, Gerard Pique over alleged infidelity issues.
The couple’s relationship, which started 12 years ago, has produced two boys, Milan and Sasha.
The Colombian stars communication agency published a statement which reads: “We regret to confirm that we are parting ways. For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect their privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”
This follows reports that the Barcelona defender was nabbed in bed with another woman.
During the scandal, Suzy Cortez, also known as Miss BumBum, said that Pique had hit on her.
She went into great detail about how she met Pique, even revealing that she received texts from the soccer player asking for measurements of one of her body parts.
Gerard Pique texted her messages, according to Cortez, although some of them were not pleasant.
She said, “He was the one who sent me -message- more direct. The only Barcelona players who never sent me anything were Messi and Coutinho. They are great husbands and they respect their wives a lot. Shakira didn’t deserve this.”
Shakira and Pique have reportedly been living apart for a few weeks after Pique was booted out of their family home.
He has been staying in a bachelor pad and living a “party lifestyle” since the separation, according to Spanish publication El Periodico.
Shakira alluded to a crisis in her relationship in her latest song, ‘Te Felicito,’ featuring Rauw Alejandro. She sang: “To complete you I broke into pieces; I was warned, but I didn’t listen; I realised that yours is false; it was the drop that overflowed the glass; Don’t tell me you’re sorry, that sounds sincere, but I know you well and I know you’re lying.”
