‘Skip Classes, Lose Your Visa’- US Warns International Students

The United States has delivered a strong caution to international students, including those from Nigeria, regarding the repercussions of breaching student visa regulations.

In a statement posted on its official X account on Monday, August 4, the US Mission in Nigeria warned that students who withdraw, miss classes, or abandon their academic programs without informing their institutions risk having their visas canceled.

It further noted that such infractions could impact students’ ability to secure future US visa applications.

“If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your programmes of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future US visas,” the mission stated.

The US Mission therefore urged all student visa holders to strictly comply with the regulations associated with their visas and ensure they maintain good academic standing.

“Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues,” the mission noted.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
