Sleeping With Mobile Phone Under Pillow Risky

While it’s not definitively proven that sleeping with your phone under your pillow is directly harmful in terms of radiation, there are some potential risks and reasons why it’s not a good idea:

Heat: Phones can generate heat, especially when charging or running background processes. Having a heat source pressed against your head for extended periods isn’t ideal and could potentially lead to discomfort or minor burns, though this is less likely with modern phones.

Fire Hazard: While rare, there have been reports of phones or chargers malfunctioning and causing fires, especially if they are damaged or using non-certified accessories. Having this under your pillow, near flammable materials, increases the potential risk.
Interrupted Sleep: Notifications, vibrations, and the light from the screen can disrupt your sleep even if you don’t consciously wake up. This can lead to fragmented sleep and negatively impact your overall sleep quality.

Electromagnetic Fields (EMF): Phones emit low levels of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF). While the scientific consensus is that the levels emitted by phones are not harmful, some people are concerned about potential long-term effects. Keeping the phone away from your head while sleeping reduces your exposure.

Psychological Dependence: Having your phone so close can contribute to a feeling of needing to be constantly connected, making it harder to switch off and relax before sleep.

In summary, while the direct health risks from radiation are not scientifically established at typical phone usage levels, the potential for heat, fire, and sleep disruption make sleeping with your phone under your pillow an unnecessary risk. It’s best to keep your phone a reasonable distance away from your bed while you sleep.
