Stop Playing God – Pastor Tunde Bakare Tells Tinubu

Pastor Tunde Bakare, Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church (CGCC), has delivered a strong admonition to President Bola Tinubu, warning him against “playing God” and stating that the present administration is leading the nation astray.

In a state of the nation address on Sunday, April 20, at the church’s auditorium in Ikeja, Lagos, Bakare advocated for a more humble and introspective approach to leadership.

During his speech, Bakare pressed the President to reevaluate his leadership methods and accept accountability for the rising unrest across the country. “Stop playing God,” he declared directly, noting that while he disapproves of Tinubu’s approaches, he has no wish for his downfall. “The current administration is steering the polity adrift,” he further remarked, urging the government to “embrace humility.”

Making clear the purpose of his statements, Bakare emphasized that his words were not meant as criticism but as a proactive appeal to guide leadership toward a more productive direction. He voiced alarm over what he perceives as the erosion of democratic institutions, particularly the legislature, under Tinubu’s tenure.

Bakare also condemned the recent suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from the National Assembly, suggesting it was a retaliatory action in response to her demands for transparency and accountability. He called on Senate President Godswill Akpabio to offer a transparent justification for the decision and to reaffirm the chamber’s dedication to democratic values.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
