The Most Influential Person On AIB This Week Is Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah, one of the world’s top wingers and a rising Liverpool legend, was born in Basyoun, Egypt, north of Cairo. From a young age, he admired football icons like Ronaldo (Brazilian) and Zinedine Zidane (French), often mimicking their moves in his early playing days.

At 14, Mohamed Salah began his career with the youth team of El Mokawloon, eventually joining the senior squad in 2010. His speed and scoring abilities caught the eye of Swiss club Basel, leading to his signing in 2012. He played a key role in helping FC Basel win the Swiss League title and reach the UEFA semi-finals, earning the Swiss Golden Player Award. His success in Basel led to a move to Chelsea, but difficulties there resulted in loan spells at Fiorentina and Roma.

Salah found remarkable success at Roma before moving to Liverpool, where he scored 43 goals in his debut season, setting a Premier League record for most goals in a 38-game season. He has since won numerous awards, broken multiple records, and became the fastest Liverpool player to reach 50 goals. In a recent season, with 16 goals in 26 appearances, he played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s pursuit of a Premier League title, despite setbacks like his injury in the 2018 Champions League final and Egypt’s early World Cup exit.

In 2017, Salah was named African Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season for 2017/2018. He remains a key figure at Liverpool, scoring 70 goals in his first 100 appearances, surpassing Fernando Torres’ record.

Salah is married to Magi, and they have two children together.
