In a shocking incident, two police inspectors lost their lives in Enugu State during a brazen attack by gunmen believed to be affiliated with IPOB/ESN. The violent encounter unfolded on the night of December 27, 2025, around 8:30 p.m., near Good Shepherd Specialist Hospital on Zik Avenue.
According to sources from security agencies, a group of approximately six attackers arrived in an ash-coloured Lexus RX 350 SUV. Without warning, they unleashed gunfire on a Distress Response Squad (DRS) patrol team, resulting in the tragic deaths of Inspectors Valentine Iheme and Ani Anayo. In the chaos, the assailants not only killed the officers but also set their Hilux vehicle ablaze and made off with three AK-47 rifles, each loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition.
In response to this alarming incident, the Enugu State Police Command has mobilized all tactical teams and resources in a concerted effort to track down the suspects and recover the stolen weapons. Authorities have assured the public that they are committed to bringing those responsible for this heinous attack to justice, vowing to restore safety and security in the community.
