Twitter To Launch A New ‘Articles’ Feature That Would Let Users Post Much Longer Tweet

Twitter users will soon say goodbye to the 280 character limit! Twitter is working on a new ‘Posts’ feature that will let you post longer tweets, claims leaks.

Users are currently limited to tweets of 280 characters, and while this is usually enough for most people, a new report suggests that those hoping to post longer tweets may be in luck soon.

Respected leaker Jane Manchun Wong announced that Twitter is developing a new feature called Twitter Articles, which will allow users to post longer stories.

Ms. Wong posted a screenshot of what Twitter posts are likely to look like on Twitter this week
“There’s a lot of potential with Articles on Twitter,” she added.

‘Also in my head: exclusive articles, newsletter + in-app UX + platform chat, aggregated articles (by news sites) + news subscription model. ‘

A Twitter spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘We’re always looking for new ways to help people start and participate in Twitter conversations. We will be sharing more about our work here soon. ‘

When Twitter first launched in 2006, tweets were limited to 140 characters, which was pretty limited.

But in 2018, Twitter doubled this limit to 280 characters to make it easier for users to ‘express themselves.

However, early data from Twitter when the character limit was lifted shows that most Twitter users still post short tweets.

In a 2018 blog, after testing the 280-character limit, Aliza Rosen, product manager at Twitter, explained: ‘We – and many of you – are concerned that the timeline might fill up. filled with 280 character Tweets and those with limited new Tweets will always use up space. But that did not happen.

‘Only 5% of Tweets sent are longer than 140 characters and only 2% of 190 characters.

‘As a result, your timeline reading experience will remain essentially unchanged, you’ll still see the same amount of Tweets in your timeline.’
