Authorities in Ondo State have taken into custody two individuals, 25-year-old Shina Jacob and 32-year-old Felix Olalekan, on allegations of fatally st@bbbinh a police officer in Akure, the capital city of the state.
The Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Olusola Ayanlade, verified the occurrence through a statement released to members of the press. He explained that the incident took place on Wednesday morning when the officer, who was performing his legitimate responsibilities, got into a dispute with a group of “recalcitrant individuals.” In the course of the confrontation, the officer sustained stab wounds and subsequently succumbed to those injuries.
Ayanlade stated that police personnel were promptly dispatched to the location. “Acting swiftly, the Commissioner of Police deployed a team of operatives to the scene, resulting in the arrest of two suspects directly connected to the incident,” he stated.
He named the arrested persons as Shina Jacob, aged 25, and Felix Olalekan, aged 32. The wounded officer was immediately taken to a medical facility, but “despite all efforts, the police inspector sadly passed away while receiving treatment.”
Ayanlade issued a strong caution that the command would not hesitate to respond decisively against any person who assaults police officers. “The Command reiterates that it will not tolerate any form of human rights abuse by its officers, just as it will deal decisively with anyone who assaults or attacks police officers in the course of their lawful duties,” he said.
He further noted that the suspects would face prosecution in court as soon as the investigation is completed.
