US Embassy Cautions Nigerians Over Visa Overstay

According to the US Mission in Nigeria, overstaying visas by Nigerians may harm other people’s chances. This was mentioned in a social media statement.

According to the US Mission, Nigerians who travel responsibly for family visits, business, and education must adhere to visa regulations in order to maintain their access.

“Visa overstays by Nigerian travelers can affect opportunities for their fellow citizens. Strengthening compliance helps protect access for students, business travelers, and families who travel responsibly,” the mission said.

By offering the email addresses of its Fraud Prevention Units in Abuja and Lagos, the embassy also encouraged the public to report suspected visa fraud.

The warning coincides with continued efforts by U.S. officials to combat immigration fraud and infractions, which can affect visa approval rates and rules for visitors from impacted nations.
