The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Mr Michael Ango, in a move signalling another shake-up within the administration’s revenue-generating institutions.
The decision was announced on Friday in a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communication and Social Media.
According to the statement, the most senior official within the FCT-IRS has been directed to immediately assume leadership of the agency and ensure uninterrupted operations as the administration initiates a transition process.
The statement did not give reasons for the removal.
The FCT-IRS is responsible for coordinating and collecting revenue for the territory, a role central to financing development projects and improving public services.
Further details on a substantive replacement are expected in due course.
