World Malaria Day: Ned Nwoko Commences Talks With American Researchers On Vaccine

Anti malaria campaigner and philanthropist, Hon. Ned Nwoko has revealed that his organisation, Ned Nwoko Foundation has commenced talks with two American researchers and others across the globe on the possible production of vaccines for malaria.

Briefing newsmen in Abuja on Monday as part of activities to mark the 2022 World Malaria Day, Nwoko said even though the World Health Organisation, WHO had approved ITSS last year as malaria vaccine, it does not have the efficacy to protect people from being infected by malaria, adding that it was produced for children.

He therefore called for investment into research for the production of safe and effective vaccine by notable individuals across the country, maintaining that people cannot be vaccinated against malaria, as obtainable in Covid-19, poliomyelitis and others.

He hinted that before the end of first quarter of 2023, Nigeria will have WHO approval for a particular brand of vaccine his team is currently researching on which will also be available for adult use.

According to Nairaland Forum, while he was advocating for fumigation, sanitation and proper waste management, the politician also called for setting up of recycling plants in every Senatorial District of the country.

“We dump refuse everywhere. We have no standard in the management of refuse. You go to the streets, there is just heaps of refuse everywhere.

“In so doing, we are inviting mosquitoes to breed abundantly. When that happens, they feast on us. We are their food.

“So what must be done is to manage our waste. Wastes are managed in a manner that is effortless. It is not a difficult thing to have a recycling plant” he said.

Finally, Prince Ned called on all and sundry particularly the media to play active role in communicating the right information to those in powers to adopt effective models to end malaria in Nigeria.

Ned was in company of his wife Regina Daniels Nwoko who is also a Global Ambassador to Ned Nwoko Malaria Eradication project, as well as the National Coordinator and Malariologist Mr Chukwuebuka Anyaduba.
