20-Year-Old Woman Stabs Husband To Death 5 Weeks After Wedding

Idris Ahmadu, the husband of 20-year-old Aisha Aliyu, is said to have been assassinated in Nasarawa village, Lapai Local Government Area, Niger State.

Locals informed Daily Trust that the incident occurred on Monday, February 12, 2024, at around one in the morning.

It was learned that on December 31, 2023, the couple tied the knot.

One of the sources claims that the pair had a small argument on Sunday night and that they made up before going to bed. However, at midnight, the deceased man’s mother reportedly heard him scream.

“When the mother came out alongside other residents, they saw him in a pool of blood. He tried to run out of room but he fell at the doorstep. But up till now, we don’t know the whereabouts of his wife,” the source said.

According to the informant, the woman had stabbed the husband in the chest first before killing him.

When asked if it was a forced union, the sources said that although the pair had been dating for years, the 20-year-old lady had changed her mind and wanted to marry someone else before the wedding date was set.

“But even with that, issues were resolved. They started this relationship right from secondary school and they had been together. Before the marriage, she said she was no longer interested in the relationship, but the issue was resolved and she agreed eventually, not knowing that this was her plan. She said she had a new suitor,” he said.

The incident was verified to the media by DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command.

“Today 12/02/2024 (Monday), at about 1200hrs, information was received that in the early hours, one Idris Ahmadu of Nasarawa village, via Lapai was stabbed to death by his wife, Aisha Aliyu 19/20yrs of the same address,” the PPRO said.

“Before the arrival of the police at the scene, the suspect had fled to an unknown destination, while effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect. Case under investigation please,” he added.
