2023: Wike, Makinde, Ortom, and Others Reportedly In Enugu To Discuss Peter Obi

Five governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reportedly gathered on Sunday in Enugu State in advance of the February 2023 presidential elections.

According to insiders, the topic of conversation was how to elect Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, in 2023.

The governors are Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, and Okezie Ikeazu of Abia State.

The insider claims that the five governors were persuaded to support Peter Obi’s campaign because they were uneasy supporting Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s candidate.

According to DAILY POST, the crisis engulfing the main opposition party may not be far from the reason for the governors’ decision.

Despite attempts by party stakeholders to end the cold war, the crisis—which was sparked by the disagreement between Wike and the former vice president—had grown out of control.

Gov Wike is insisting that both the national chairman and the presidential candidate can’t be from the north at the same time.

The Rivers State governor is calling for the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman, as a condition for his support in 2023.
