25 Undergraduates From Ajayi Crowther University Were Arrested For Fatally Beating A Fellow Student

Twenty-five Ajayi Crowther University students from Oyo State were taken before the Chief Magistrate Court on Wednesday about the death of Alex Timileyin, a classmate who was fatally assaulted by his classmates after being accused of stealing a cell phone.

The 18 to 34-year-old pupils have been placed under remand in custody until July 8 in anticipation of their trial.

The development was revealed on X.com by an activist from Itsekiri in the Warri Kingdom, Delta State, who goes by the name “Lord Of Warri.”

According to PUNCH Online, Timileyin was fatally attacked by a bunch of fellow students inside the Shepherd Inn hostel on the school grounds after he was accused of stealing a cell phone.

He was said to have been beaten from 6pm on Friday to about 10am on Saturday.

The activist, who is a relative of the deceased, had earlier petitioned the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, urging the governor to ensure that those behind the murder were brought to justice.

In an update on X on Wednesday, ‘Lord Of Warri’ wrote, “Today June 5, 25 students were arraigned in court in connection with the tragic murder of Prince Alex Timileyin, a son of the Warri Kingdom and a student at Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo.

“The court has remanded them in prison until July 8, pending trial.

“We appreciate the efforts of the Oyo State Government and the Oyo State Police Command in pursuing justice and ensuring that the perpetrators are held accountable.

“We await the trial and expect that justice will be served in its entirety.”

Bullying is never ok. The great thing is that there is much that you can do to stop or prevent it.  If you see bullying happening whether to you or someone else, you need to take action. We must stop jingle justice. This will also serve as a lesson to others who feel they can take laws into their hands.
