71-Year-Old Bags Life Imprisonment For Defiling 10-Year-Old Girl

A man named Sule Adeola, 71, was found guilty of r@ping a 10-year-old girl and was given a life sentence by an Ekiti State High Court.

A single count accusation that hinted at rape was brought against the accused, on June 22, 2023.

The prosecution team, headed by Julius Ajibare, claimed that the convict committed the heinous conduct between 2021 and 2023 while living next door to the victim’s grandmother.

Ajibare informed the court that the victim had first kept her grandmother in the dark because the convict had threatened to murder her.

Julius Ajibare, the prosecution, questioned four witnesses and submitted the defendant’s statement and medical report as exhibits to support his case.

The accused called three witnesses and testified through his attorney, Adefolaju Ayobioloja.

Delivering judgment in the case, the Justice Blessing Ajileye, said, “It is unfortunate and saddening that recorded cases of intimate person’s sexual assault, hit new high every day. From the totality of evidence on record, I am more persuaded by the prosecution’s evidence that there was proof of penetration, there is no scintilla of evidence available in the contrary. In all, I found that the prosecution proved the most essential ingredient of rape i.e. penetration. The defendant penetrated the vagina of the victim and I so hold. The defendant, Sule Adeola, is found guilty of the offence of rape of a 10 years old girl as charged. He is accordingly sentenced to life imprisonment.”
