Godswill Akpabio, the Senate’s president, led the Senate’s principal officers in a customary Eid-el-Kabir tribute to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos home, reiterating the National Assembly’s support for the administration’s reform program.
Following the meeting, Senator Akpabio stated that the purpose of the visit was to commend ongoing economic reforms, pray for peace and stability in Nigeria, and celebrate Sallah with the President.
The Senate President commended the elimination of fuel subsidies, exchange rate harmonization, and tax reforms, characterizing them as audacious measures intended to realign the economy and reinstate fiscal restraint.
Significant progress has been made in stabilizing the system, he said, despite the fact that the Tinubu administration inherited significant economic challenges, such as multiple exchange rates and excessive borrowing.
Regarding security, Senator Akpabio acknowledged that the battle against insurgency has improved, but he also acknowledged that attacks on soft targets are still difficult.
He revealed that discussions about a regulated state police framework and increased funding for the Police Trust Fund are among the ways the National Assembly is thinking about providing more support for law enforcement.
Nigerians were reassured by the Senate President that the legislative and executive branches would continue to work together to improve infrastructure, security, agriculture, and economic expansion.
We extend our warmest wishes to all Muslims around the world. May this blessed Sallah bring you peace, happiness, and abundant blessings. Happy Sallah!
