With 56 people killed in recent attacks by suspected herdsmen in Ukum and Logo Local Government Areas, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has urged the federal government to act quickly to combat the state’s increasing insecurity.
The governor took the decision on Saturday while investigating the effects of suspected herdsman attacks in the local government areas of Ukum and Logo.
Speaking to reporters on the tour of the impacted towns in the two local government districts, Alia denounced the brutal assaults on the helpless and urged security forces to take more decisive action to stop these crimes before they start.
In order to better address all types of insecurity, the governor used the tour to interact with local leaders and their constituents.
Additionally, he urged individuals to remain composed and to fight the impulse to turn to self-help. While emergency services and relief supplies have been expanded to the two local government areas, security has also been strengthened in the Sankera axis, the site of these attacks, in an effort to rebuild trust.
