Alleged bandits murdered one Malam Sunusi Idris Haruna (Sarkin Nyalun), the village chief of the Nyalun community in the Wase Local Government Area of the Plateau.

During a raid on Monday night, October 17, 2022, the bandits were said to have also shot and killed two other community members.

Residents claim that the gunmen rode into the neighbourhood around 8 p.m. on motorcycles and began shooting randomly.

Five other community members were also kidnapped, including the two wives of the village leader, according to residents who spoke to Daily Trust.

According to Shapi’i Sambo, a youth leader in Wase, the gunmen also stole a significant number of motorcycles.

Sambo said, “The attackers came in their numbers and started shooting sporadically. They went straight to the traditional ruler’s house, killed him and abducted five members of his family.

“They also killed two other people before entering into the house of the village head.”

While verifying the event, DSP Alabo Alfred, a spokesperson for the State Police Command, claimed three individuals were killed in the attack and that other details were still lacking.

Today's Quote

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
