Nigerian music superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has sparked reactions online after sharing his thoughts on wealth and financial sustainability during a recent conversation with some of Nigeria’s top football stars.
The discussion took place during a private dinner attended by Davido, Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, footballer Victor Boniface, and nightlife entrepreneur Cubana Chief Priest, among others.
During the conversation, the topic shifted to the immense wealth accumulated by Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo, who is widely regarded as one of the richest athletes in the world.
At one point, Victor Boniface was heard telling Osimhen that even if Ronaldo decided to retire from football immediately, he would never go broke due to his enormous wealth, investments, and business ventures.
However, Davido appeared to disagree with the suggestion, arguing that anyone’s fortune could eventually run out if they stopped generating income while maintaining an expensive lifestyle.
According to the Afrobeats star, financial security is not solely determined by how much money a person has but also by how they manage their spending and investments over time.
Cristiano Ronaldo remains one of the highest-paid athletes in the world, earning income from football contracts, endorsements, sponsorships, and a growing portfolio of business investments. He is also widely recognized as the first active team-sport athlete to achieve billionaire status.
C.Ronaldo’s net worth in 2026 is estimated to be between $1.2 billion and $1.34 billion.
Davido’s remarks have since fueled discussions among fans, with some agreeing that no fortune is immune to depletion without proper financial management, while others argued that Ronaldo’s wealth and investments make it highly unlikely that he would ever face financial difficulties.
