Canada Sends 366 Nigerians Back Amid 974 Face Removal Cases

Canada claimed it had deported 366 Nigerians between January and October 2025 in an enhanced crackdown on its immigration enforcement drive.

974 Nigerians are presently in the “removal in progress” inventory, awaiting deportation from the nation, according to official data from the Canada Border Services Agency removals program statistics.

Nigeria was ranked ninth out of the top ten nationalities deported, according to a data updated on November 25, 2025. Deportations from Nigeria have varied over time, according to a breakdown of the statistics.

Canada used around $78 million to remove 18,048 individuals during the fiscal year 2024–2025. 339 Nigerians were deported from Canada in 2019; this number fell to 302 in 2020, 242 in 2021, and 199 in 2022.

While Nigeria did not feature in the top 10 in 2023 and 2024, it returned to the list in 2025, recording 366 removals in just 10 months.

This represented an eight per cent increase compared to the 2019 figure.

The majority of those being removed, about 83 per cent, are failed refugee claimants whose asylum applications were denied.
