Cardi B Seeks Primary Custody Of Her Children With Offset

According to court documents, Cardi B is requesting primary custody of her children with rapper Offset, including a new baby who is due soon.

In addition, Offset—who is well-known for his prosperous solo career and membership in the rap group Migos—is being sued by the Grammy-winning hip-hop musician for child support.

Divorce filings that were obtained on Friday, one day after they were filed in New Jersey Superior Court in Bergen County, contained specifics on Cardi B’s requests. Together, Cardi B, 31, and Offset, 32, are parents to two children: Kulture, age six, and Wave, age two.

She revealed that she was expecting their third child on Thursday via an Instagram post.

Cardi B and Offset, whose birth names are Belcalis Almanzar and Kiari Cephus, respectively, “have experienced irreconcilable differences… for the past six months,” according to the filing. The parties have no realistic chance of getting back together.

A spokesman for Cardi B revealed that “this is not based on any one particular incident, it has been a long time coming and is amicable.” On September 20, 2017, in Atlanta, the hip-hop power couple—Offset, who is well-known for his solo success and for being a member of the rap group Migos—got married in secret. It took them a month to announce their engagement.

Raised in the South Bronx, Cardi B originally gained notoriety as a cast member of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York. Her Grammy-winning debut album, Invasion of Privacy, and its hit singles, “I Like It” and “Bodak Yellow,” featuring J Balvin and Bad Bunny, helped her establish a successful rap career.

Since then, her popularity has only increased because of other No. 1 hits, including Girls Like You (2018), WAP (featuring Megan Thee Stallion) in 2020, and Up (2021) when she joined Maroon 5.

The celebrity news website TMZ broke the story of the information found in court documents on Friday. Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset in Georgia in 2020, stating that her marriage was “irretrievably broken.”
