According to the Cross River State government, ten individuals who had contact with the Chinese national who reimported COVID-19 into Nigeria have been identified and isolated.
Dr. Inyang Ekpenyong, the state epidemiologist, told Daily Trust that they were discovered while health officials were tracing contacts.
In the state’s Akamkpa Local Government Area, she said, her team went to the Chinese national’s workplace.
“We’ve restricted their movements to their homes, so that they do not spread the symptoms to other persons.”
“As for the Chinese national, he is responding to treatment,” she disclosed.
The epidemiologist reminded members of the public that COVID-19, which broke out six years ago, had not been totally eliminated.
In light of these new cases, it is crucial for everyone to remain vigilant and exercise caution. To protect yourself and others, avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms, practice good hand hygiene, and adhere to all safety guidelines.
Together, we can help prevent the further spread of COVID-19 and keep our community safe.
