The sister of Nigerian musician David Adeleke, better known by his stage name Davido, Sharon Adeleke-Ademefun, has disclosed that she meets with the singer once a week to keep an eye on his spending, especially on jewelry and cars.
During an appearance on The Morayo Show, Sharon, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Davido’s record label, revealed this information while discussing her relationship with her brother, family wealth, and her role in handling his finances.
Regarding her role on Davido’s team, Sharon stated that she had been involved in her brother’s management and career from the start.
She said, “I’ve always taken care of David. He’s always been my baby. And from the beginning of his career, we always kind of worked together, I’ve always been a part of the management team.
“The problem is that me and David were always fighting. What other people can’t tell him, I’ll tell him. We grew up completely differently to how life is for us now, right? And I think that that has a lot to do with what people consider humility.”
“When you are born into a family office, family wealth, structure, there is structure. So, you don’t just get to go into a coffer and take whatever. So, you still have to live within whatever budget or means that you are given.
“A lot of nepo babies, should I say? They don’t have as much access to cash as you may think. They have more than the average person, but it’s not unlimited.”
“One of the major things that I’m always getting on my brother is jewellery and cars. My God.
“And we will sit down to have a finance meeting every week, because I think that it’s important for him to know how his money is being spent and I’ll have to advise him saying, ‘David… please, no more cars.”
“I learned how to make wigs because I was frustrated. I have really good hairstylists. They’re always busy.”
“I’m a communication person. So, you know, when I met my husband, I explained to him that it was not going to be a traditional kind of marriage.”
“The first few weeks, months of us dating, I came to his house, I cooked and all the things. And when he was eating, I was like, ‘Oh, babe, are you enjoying the food?’ He said yes, I said, ‘good. So now you know I know how to cook. But I don’t like cooking. And I hope that’s not going to be a problem.’
“I think that I was very honest.”
I really admire the way Davido’s sister Sharon is handling the situation. I like her approach; it shows a sense of responsibility and care. Unity among siblings is so important, as it strengthens their bond and helps them grow together. When family members support and look out for each other, it creates a positive environment for everyone to thrive. I truly appreciate her efforts and believe that such unity is key to a healthy and loving family dynamic.
